HIV+ in 2008

A close mate of mine told me this weekend he was HIV+ he found out a week ago, normal guy early 30's, never a drug user, desk job just like you or I. He is hetrosexual and recon he caught it from a one night stand he had always been safe sex but the condom came off.

I'm going to stand by him and support him but he is obviously worried about telling other friends and work, does he actually need to tell work ? Would you prefer someone you knew well to tell you they were HIV + or for you not to know.

I'm really scared for my mate and people reactions.

not good, but I saw a programme on it and they say that people can last until their 50s / 60s with the proper drugs.

Yep it's no longer the death sentence it once was but you do have to change your lifestyle to ensure that you maximise the effectiveness of any drug regime.

These days if you are HIV + you can expect to live a normal life span with the right treatment, you can even have you sperm washed if you want to have kids and not pass HIV to your partner, I did a lot of research at weekend

Question more relates to other peoples reactions DP reaction was what I was dreading.
