BBC: UK 'needs tougher climate target'

The Committee on Climate Change (CCC) said a cut in greenhouse gas emissions of at least 80% by 2050 should include international aviation and shipping.

It said other industries would have to make up any shortfall in those areas.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Does anyone give a toss about climate change when we're about to venture back into the economic Dark Age?

The environment will be the least of our worries, in fact it will benefit from the other problems we are currently facing.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

I agree. A state of emergency would be perfect timing to build new energy and transport infrastructure, with much quickness and cheapness. Wind turbines, nuclear power stations (not French owned) and the Severn Barrage built in years rather than decades. A depression could be the best thing that's happened to the UK for centuries. Boomed.

I remember more innocent times when there was no internet, no rabid discussion forums, no 24 hour news coverage and the papers (remember them?) were full of stories about rottweilers attacking children.

It's a harsh world for kids today.
