    Europe is a farce

    Just an observation...

While the rest of the world seems to be taking action to try and avert the crisis that is currently upon us, European leaders are gathering together to argue about what to do and eventually end up having agreed to nothing. Then they go off and do their own thing. The French and Germans are all for European integration until it looks like they might have to bail out Spain, then all of a sudden it's every man for himself and the whole of Europe ends up looking like a disorganised shambles.

Financial union usually follows political union.

It will be an interesting expirement to see it done the other way round - as long as we dont get caught in the crossfire.

What if....in the long run...it was better to have done nothing?
McCoy: "Medical men are trained in logic."
Spock: "Trained? Judging from you, I would have guessed it was trial and error."

My only reservation is that the pain would have been worse short term. The current situation is carpet bombing the economy. A big bank falling over would be like an atom bomb going off.

Funnily enough though, the FT was saying a few days ago that we should be taking lessons from the Spanish banking system:

              ft article

So Spain could end up bailing out Germany! Having said that, the way it's going all the western European banks seem to be in danger. There's too much panicking going on. Invest in tulips I say (they were once worth a fortune - maybe it's their time again)!!!
