    Immigrants

Interesting numbers courtesy of the Beeb in this article

half as many Kiwis as Aussies.... with a population at about 20%. Wonder if most of the Aussies have left in shame at their sporting performances?
    Chico, what time is it?

Move over everyone, there's plenty more queuing up where they came from!

      Yawn.

I assume you are talking about recent Australian sporting shame such as the performance of our cricketers (2005) and our loss to England in the Rugby World Cup Final (2003 - incidently, who did Australia beat in the semi-final again?)?? Notwithstanding the article published figures from 2001. Or was there equal Aussie shame back then too Becky?

You've heard of "little man" syndrome. Wonder how this can be applied to NZ.

There's nothing "little" about beating you (twice) at rugby in the tri-nations! All I know is that you are losing the cricket and you've lost the rugby. But it is true that the stats were for 2001 and the Aussies were quite good then. So there must be another explanation, probably nothing to do with sport, although we are talking about Australia here!

Yep, totally agree with you that it doesn't have anything to do with sport and that your were talking tulipe in the first place.

The rather more obvious reason there's a greater number of Kiwi's here than Ozzies per capita is that there's a greater proportion of Aussies who would rather be in their home country than Kiwis would in their little country.

            hohoho.
But in a way, you're right - most Aussies would rather stay at home and take advantage of the benefit-assisted-pikey lifestyle that the government offers them (actually loads of Kiwis go to Oz for that too!), whereas in NZ we haven't got that (we believe in work and get very little assistance from the state if we don't work - again as shown by the greater % of Kiwis in the UK being employed than Aussies in the UK being employed)

No luck with the stats today hey

You're a genius: Australians are slack pikeys because of our social welfare system. This must be true because Aussies are only the second most employed group of people (90%) behind Kiwis (93%) in the UK?

Man! The social welfare system must be generous in all the other countries - take a look at all these pikey slackers: Somalia (12%), Pakistan (44%), USA (68%), Iraq (37%),China (35%) ...

No luck with the logic today hey
