watch out (private) dentists, you're next

Broon to nationalize private dental practices. And why not indeed? He's on a roll now.

About bloody time. I can't find an NHS dentist anywhere. Oh some get listed as NHS, but in practice this is only for examinations. Any treatment needed as a result, is private only. Is that a racket or what?

Allowing the sale of DIY dentistry kits would be a better bet. Dentists are overpriced for what they do, even in the NHS IMO. How hard can it be to drill a hole and fill it with one of the most toxic elements know to man (Mercury).

        It's racket science.

If you can't find a dentist, ring NHS direct who can tell you who is taking on in your area.

I think there is some truth in that article, even a filling seems to require 3 visits these days.
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

I did, with the result that I described: they sent me to a dentist who is taking on NHS patients - but who will not do most of the treatment on the NHS, only the examinations. Bizarrely, NHS Direct classify that as "taking on new NHS patients". I really need "taking on new NHS patients, and treating them on the NHS", and NHS Direct cannot tell me which dentists might do that.

That's taking semantics a little too far. Mind you the examination is probably some saving, the treatment itself is sometimes more costly on the NHS.

Went to an NHS dentist about 6 weeks ago: utterly dire. Just thought I'd share that.

You just went to a bad dentist. Most "NHS dentists" have more private work e.g. mine does NHS 1 day per week. There are no NHS only dentists outside of hospital depts AFAIK But in true CUK style have a free blame it on the state on me.
