    Press very quiet about this

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ces-years.html

Public trust in crime statistics has been dealt a devastating blow after ministers admitted the figures have been downplaying serious violence for up to a decade.

The Home Office admitted that as many as one in five of the worst attacks has been wrongly classified in published figures.
As many as 4,000 serious assaults each year were mistakenly recorded as minor incidents - and officials conceded they 'simply do not know how far back it goes'.

The tightening of the rules has seen figures for serious violent crimes rocket by 22 per cent compared to last year - and confusion over the figures makes it impossible to say how much of the rise is genuine.

Ministers blamed the blunders on police officers, who were wrongly classifying cases of 'grievous bodily harm with intent' as minor assaults.

Obviously not as interesting or relevant to the general public as a Conservative talking to a Russian in Corfu about a donation that never happened.

It was one of the headlines when I watched the news yesterday. I think you're looking for bias.

They did highlight the fact everyone already thought it was up, so it was really not a big surprise.

It was the headline on BBC and ITV last night
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

Like the figures weren't massaged to death anyway! F--k knows the REAL numbers. I suspect a good 30% higher.

By the way, anyone else a bit dismayed and angered at the Met's new adverts on the Tube?

In sum: don't bother ringing 999 unless the crime's in-progress. If you're car's been nicked, or if your house has been screwed, dial this other (national rate!) number, instead! Must brush-up on my French...

I've never believed Labour figures ever since they double or triple-counted investment in the NHS. For example, if they put 20 Billion in 3 years ago, they would say that is 20 Billion every year which is 60 Billion, when in fact it was the same 20 Billion.

Not frontpage like the Mandelson scandal.

The media control is so transparent it's laughable now.

Media control? Of the Torygraph? - I think they've been putting something in your tea.

The Osborne 'scandal' whereby he accepted no donations and therefore did nothing illegal or sleazy was just a cover for Mandelson as he has allegedly been doing shady dealings as EU commisioner with the russians over aluminium.

Interesting that Robert Peston has been mentioned alongside the rumour-monger and friend, sub-Billionaire Nat Rothschild. As we know, Peston has been the conduit for banking rumours and some unsavoury characters have cleaned up on the Stock Market in the minutes before Peston's announcements. This is what should be investigated!!
