    Evil engine noises….

Think there is a hamster stuck in my engine.

Driving alone the motorway, thought I was nect to one of those old trucks with knackered engines that squeak. There was no truck, and the squeaking became more of a screech….

Strange thing is that is stopped after 10 mins and has been fine the rest of the journey.

However…. When I was at the end of the journey the car stalled, and made a strange noise when I cut the engine off.

    Awaiting the AA……

1.8 TDCI last of the old new model, around 8 months old, 20K's.

Sounds like a belt / bearing kind of noise.

Stalled once off the motorway, and had trouble getting from 4th to 5th.

The latter two may be unrelated due to not functioning right at 6:30am, but, will get the ford AA out for a look!

The noise is very obvious on the drivers side, very loud when the window is open.

Apparently this is caused by changing the ride settings. Try not playing with them and it will be fine.

try closing the window, see what happens...

Haynes manual, if you dont have one, invest in one, im no mechanic but any stretch of the imagination but to me it sounds like either

                a) fan belt needs replacing or tightening depending on age
                or
                b) you own a wreck of a car and need to consolidate the piles of crap you own and go buy something more reliable
                or
                c) take it to kwik fit and bend over as they write out some imaginary figures and then triple it

Sounds much like the starter motor throw thingy isn't returning.
