    Sad day for USA

USA have voted their very own Tony Blair.
Expect an increase in taxes, political correctness, God removed from everything, spin, cronyism, immoral legislation, less freedom of speech etc.

    Wasn't the coverage terribly biased?

Sounds like you are describing the Repulican Party
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

It strikes me as very undemoctratic that Obama was elected pretty much because of his colour.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Or maybe because he was the better candidate

Americans, when presented with a literate, intelligent chap, and someone resembling the “it’s” man from Monty Python, could usually be relied on to choose the biggest cretin of the two. This time, at last, they’ve chosen the one with the brains to string together a sentence.

He is not Tony Blair. He did not get crowned easily as the leader of the party just because the other one died, he won very tough primary against Clinton and I doubt before 2008 even 10% of people thought that was possible.

The guy is very clever and deserved to win - he will have done his job well if he manages to restore pre-Bush respect of USA around the world (well, excluding 1/7 of the planet).
