    Can anyone recommend....

Some new authors for me to read.

I started reading Terry Pratchett at the start of the year (and being totally anal I had to read them in the order they were written ) But i only have a few left to read - mainly due to being bench bound for a while.

I tried Robert Rankin - but he just annoyed me and anyway I hate sprouts.

I am currently trying Tom Holt - enjoyed Flying Dutch, but finding Faust among equals a bit dull.

Can any other Pratchett fans ( I know you're out there) recommend other authors they've enjoyed.

    Thanks

I'm sorry, but I'll make no apologies for this

I like Stephen King. Easy to read and there are about a million of them.

Asimov is classic and also has a lot of books.

Dick Francis is OK if you like that kind of thing, again there are a ton to read.

Between those 3 there are probably about 100 books.

As a pratchett fan, Robert Aspirin appealed to me, but the books are a bugger to get hold of

It seems almost daft to ask but I assume you’ve tried Douglas Adams? Apart from the obvious I found ‘Last chance to see’ to be one of the best books I’ve ever read.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Hard to recommend, as you may hate my preferences. However, I can thoroughly not recommend either Chris Ryan or Andy McNab. So much for first-hand experience leading to masterful tales. Higgins and Forsyth are a lot better. King is hit and miss since about 1985.

Now we know where the cyber warrior tendencies come from. I bet you were in the TA and love anything with Ross Kemp in it.
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

Bravo Two Zero was alright, although such a simple read that if you took it away with you, it'll be finished before you even board an aircraft

                    TA - No.

Ross Kemp - No. But I admire his Gangs thing, mainly because I think he's about one wrong word away from having a cap popped in his ass every time he meets a new gang.

I predict an "In Memory of Ross" tribute show any day now.
