    Sympathy for the Dodgy

An agent took me to dinner once. He asked ne, how long have you been in IT then? 20, 30 years, what?
    Something like that, I said.

Have you known anybody else who worked in programming for so long? he asked.
A few, I said. Obviously there were not so many of us that long ago, but nothing stops you doing it for 20 years.

That's what I thought, he said. But I don't know any agents who have been in it for 20 years or more. I don't think anybody could stand it that long.

So what is it: agent burnout from the pressure? Revulsion at what it takes to succeed? Or is it just easier to retire early as an agent having made enough easy money?

There can be only one (agent)

as each agent defeats another he absorbs all the contacts, CV's and hair gel that his opponent had accumulated
