    Pirates

If the US navy know that the supertanker has been taken over by pirates why don't they go in and blow their brains out?

And how on earth can a bunch of dimwits with ak47's manage to board a huge ship with probably 10 meter-high side walls. The ship's cook could pour boiling water on them as they climb the sides.

A more interesting question is why didn't the Americans and Europeans stop their fishermen going down there with industrial trawlers and destroying the countries fishing economy and basically doing everything in their power to encourage these guys to become pirates?

I'm surprised that knowing the risks in that area the tanker didn't have a few crew members with guns for protection.

The really interesting part here is how pirates found that tanker 450 miles away from their shores - they must have had some info passed to them. Another interesting part is that they moved huge tanker to their "base", why that base is still allowed to exist?

Seems it is common practice for the shipping company to just pay-up!

Its international crew of 25, including two Britons, is said to be safe.
                ....

With a capacity of 318,000 dead weight tonnes, the ship is 330m (1,080ft) long - about the length of a US aircraft carrier.
                Probably explains how it happened

Are you suggesting they're from Liverpool? I thought they only did alloys.
