I bought some in Homebase a few weeks ago - wife doesn't like the CFL energy saving type - but the ones I got were a new type that are actually halogen in a normal fitting/bulb that use 30% less energy and last longer too.

Can you get dimmable energy saving bulbs?

What about LED bulbs, can a normal dimmer switch dim these?

I think these were 8 or 11 Watt. But I agree, the light isn't the same quality as an incandescent.
