Climate change summit to change climate

No Excuse To Neglect UN Climate Fight - Delegates - POZNAN - The economic slowdown is "no excuse" to neglect a fight against global warming that could widen water shortages to half of humanity by 2050, delegates told the opening of UN climate talks in Poland on Monday.

US President-elect Barack Obama also won praise at the Dec. 1-12 talks of 10,700 delegates from 187 nations for setting "ambitious" US goals for cutting greenhouse gas emissions to slow climate change. (Reuters)

Ouch - that's got to be a lot of air-miles. Lot of hot air too.
    It's snowing here, again.
    Bored.

Their actions (meeting probably once a year or so) might offset their own personal small damage. The delegates might contribute 0.00000001% to the global warning but might help cut it by 20-30%.

The real issue is with hundreds of millions inefficient cars driving every day.

Won't that be fixed when all the oil runs out?

There is still enough oil for 30-40 years.

          I disagree!!!!

When we get to 20 years away i.e. 10 years left, then THAT'S when international war takes place. We'll use-up the remaining dribbles to propel tanks and ships and ...

Oil rigs will be prime targets and big tankers are indefensible - even pirates can take them now, what do you think will happen if cruise missiles are involved and subs?

Oil is rather like chrome in the 1950s, they said the earth would run out of chrome in 10 years or some such nonsense. Well, I still see plenty of things that are chromed.

The same will happen with oil.

On one hand they say the oil is going to run out soon, and on the other hand they say that if we keep warming the earth up all the methane hydrates will boil off and we'll die horribly in a global fireball. So there're not enough hydrocarbons they're running out, but on the other hand there's enough to fill the atmosphere to sufficient levels to allow a sustained combustion.

One of these positions is bollox, yet the environmentalists hold both positions.

What's not bollox is that the Earth is warming up. It can be argued which part of this is caused by human behavior (CO2) and which by heating up Sun, however I'd rather not take chances and try to reduce CO2 and also it would help reduce reliance on backwards countries that get a lot of money that they then proceed to spend to bite the hand that feeds them.

The earth has been warming up since the last ice age, that's a no brainer. There aren't any glaciers left covering england. Maybe it was them cavemen with their Humvees that put paid to them hey? It has been shown that most results presented by the environmentalists have no scientific basis as when investigated are shown to be based on faked data.

Increased levels of CO2 cause an increase in biomass which then drops CO2. That's a fact.
