    Got this commerical email:

    Dear Virtual Village Customer,

    Due to an error in our system, your name may have been accidentally removed from our mailing list. We are currently making adjustments to our website for a much enhanced visitor experience.

    If you would like to receive emails from Virtual Village, please click the following link:
    etc etc
    Good.

    But if my name was removed, how did they send this mail? And if it wasn't removed, why did they send this mail?

    This smacks of a management decision, methinks the company has a 'management consultant' performing a 'management' function, probably from one of the TLA consultancies. Poor sods. Almost certainly why they had the initiating database problem.
