The MP, The Speaker, The Sergeant, The Cops

I see a rather nasty side effect to the Green Affair: MPs being muzzled, lest Plod get a search warrant. A search warrant? Is that all that Plod needs to plough through Parliament? Oh Dear (TM).

It's worse than that - they arrested him to save the bother of needing a warrant.

I'm quite pleased that plod has done this. Hopefully it will make some MPs wake up to the dangers in eroding civil liberties.

42 days in custody without being charged is a scandal.

Aha! Nice angle. It would have been better if they'd shot him then.

Its a shame he didnt use the tube. He could have been chased by armed coppers then.

Now what will it be today, machine gun or taser?

You think you'll still be given the chance to vote??

No magistrate or judge in the land would issue a search warrant for the Palace of Westminster. They'd just refer the request to the Speaker, and that's exactly why plod had to arrest Green.

...and not just any plod, but the flying squad under the pretence it was an anti-terrorist matter.
