      Very sad news...I'm sure most people won't have heard of him until today, but he was a very unassuming chap who did a heck of a lot of good.

      If we are going to have honours, these are the sort of people who should be knighted, not non-entities like rubber-lips Jagger. This guy didn't even get an MBE.

            Conservative leader David Cameron told BBC Radio 5 Live that Ivor the Engine was his favourite of Postgate and Firmin's characters.

            "I never really got the Clangers," he added. "My wife's a big Clangers fan - I never quite got that in the same way.
