Why do I keep thinking that Gordan Brown has been planning this all along so as to give him an excuse to join the Euro? After all didn't he say all those years ago that Britain wouldn't enter the Eurozone "until the time was right."

Maybe because he is a lying, scheming, egotistical, self centered git?
Just a wild stab in the dark....
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? - Epicurus
Don't worry GB has a plan. They're just trying to get to parity £ = E. Fix it at this point and it will simple to join Euro, prices won't need converting and no-one will notice. We can even go on using our currency notes and coins and they will be spendable in the EU also.

The ultimate stealth currency conversion
What on earth makes people imagine that the exchange rate will stop at parity?
