    Bloody hell

I bought a new monthly parking ticket for the station car park the other day but forgot to display it in the car. So the next day I found a penalty notice stuck to my driver's door window.

Bloody jobsworths. I died in the war for people like them.

Is there any way to avoid paying it? Is it worth hiring Mr Loophole?

    You could try this: http://www.majicari.com/index.php?sid=39

You write a sob story and get enough people to vote for it and they'll pay your ticket.

It doesn't seem right that you pay and get fined. One or the other, you should at least be entitled to 1/30th of your money being refunded. What the legal position is I have no idea though.

Didn't we all go and visit a forum for people who refuse to take any responsibilty for where and when they park earlier this year?

meh, what's the issue here? you weren't displaying a ticket, you get fined. seems straightforward. i mean, i buy swimming trunks, but i'm generally expected to actually wear them at the pool.

Well, to be fair, if people with well paid jobs can spend their time posting on CUK, why don't people with crap jobs like traffic warden just find a greasy spoon cafe to sit down with a cuppa and read the paper instead of making everyone hate them?
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

Is it covered by an appeals process like council parking is?
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

He's being fined the same as someone who has not bought a ticket though. On proof of being in possession of a valid ticket, he should either:
                    • be refunded 1/30th the cost of the monthly ticket
                    • the fine be reduced to take into consideration proof of a lesser offence
