    Working culture in Germany

the permies just arrived back from a "all hands meeting" - and they brought snack food and beers along for us 2 contractors.

Nice people sometimes these German permies.

    Have you had similar experiences?

    Enjoy your day and cheers.

Yeah, they are nice. That is until they start shouting and throwing chairs to each other in the meetings.
I've seen much of the rest of the world. It is brutal and cruel and dark, Rome is the light.

Do you get "breakfast" where you work.

At one place I worked as well as celebrating birthdays and "leaving" they even celebrated "buying a new car" FFS

I contracted for a well known film production company. Every Friday they declared it to be a successful week (even if it was tulip) and sent the runner to buy two dozen bottles of Boli and order canopies. Loads left over at the weekend to raid the fridge.

Standard German tactics to overwelm enemy. Get you off guard then attack. (doesn't work)

Once worked with the HR department of a company that hired chefs. As part of the interview, each candidate had to bake a cake and bring it in along. On interview days, the HR desk would end up with 3/4 of the best cake in some chef's repertoire every hour on the hour.
