Sending a fax by the internet

Does anybody know of a free and easy way of sending a fax using your braodband connection. I don't have a modem card in my PC.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

I've tried this a few times, you'd think it would as simple as sending an email but it isn't.

Someone should just set up a service where you email them the document you need to fax, and then they print it out and fax it from their own machine!

In the meantime, the local newsagents or library is the best bet for sending stuff to those few luddites that still only use fax machines.

Funny thing is though that I've had the reverse a few times, where they need a signed document but you can't fax it, only email or post. Fortunately, the last place I worked at had one of those photocopiers which emails you a pdf of the document you're copying, instead of printing it. Superb piece of kit, that was.

thanks for the responses. I found an old fax modem card in my big pile of old computer bits which did the trick

We've got a konica-minolta machine that can copy, print, scan to e-mail/ftp/smb, scan to internet fax.

Truely a very nice peice of kit. handy for those times when I need a 110 page document copied in triplicate! Just wish we had the hole-punch and staple feature attached.
