    Zavvi in administration

    Just on BBC news there.

I was just in their shop for the first time yesterday.

Whatever happened to "Our Price" and "Andy's Records"?
There used to be room for more than 1 high street record shop chain, but I guess the supermarkets and the tinterweb have seen to that. HMV may even struggle to stay afloat next year I hear, and record shops will go the way of the high street cinema, and the local butcher, baker, candlestick maker.

Currently a rolling headline on the BBC news home page.

They couldn't get stock because Woolworths owned Entertainment UK was apparently the sole provider and distributor.

Let's be honest here, the retailers who have gone so far (Zavvi, Woolworth, MFI, Whittard, Officers Club) were all the type where you wondered how something run that badly could make any money.

None have come as an "OMG" shock from the blue.

It seems obvious that traditional high street chains that sell stuff that can be bought more cheaply on the web are doomed.
The only surprise is how they've survived so long.
                  Hard Brexit now!

I went in looking for a last minute DVD buy yesterday, the shelves were empty.
