Wot, modding the Wii to be a proper console like an XBox 360.

Cheaper to buy a new 360, Shirley!

You mean so it does a Christmas Tree impression and has to be wrapped in towels?

The Wii is a runaway success... MS and Sony are playing catchup with their 'proper' consoles...

          Don't do it yourself.

With the newer consoles, fitting a chip involves getting a Dremel and grinding away part of an existing chip on the PCB to expose the pins you need to connect the chip to. Not a DIY job I'd like to attempt!

thats only the newer versions. for models older than 4-6mths they are actually solderless now.

There is indeed a softmod available that makes use of the "Zelda Exploit." Or so I heard anyway.
Where are we going? And what’s with this hand basket?

Yes definitely software mod. You just need to install this homebrew channel.

You need a copy of Zelda to install the homebrew channel (there is some save game file which causes the machine to reboot and run some code). C++ is so good for things like that

I think you may be able to load games over a network, not tried though!
