First great western - 1st class

    Is it worth it?

Just about to book a ticket for next weekend the cost is more than double that of the standard fare.

According to some, out there, since the upgrade of the coaches the service has gone backwards from the loss of comfy seats etc...

Have you tried booking with "The Trainline"? I usually use them and the cost is much cheaper.

It's not worth it unless it's the same price - I used 1st class only once in 10 years living in the UK - the price of travel to London was for some reason exactly the same as in the normal class (which was still rip off by EU standards anyway), so I decided to give 1st class a go - a bit nicer, but certainly not worth 2 or more times the price.

Pay for standard class and sit in first, I've always done that and no-one has ever asked me to move.
