    permis getting jealous

Why cant some people grasp the temp/contractor concept? No one in their right minds will work at lower wage for as a temp.

That contract staff does not get £200 - it gets billed that amount and probably gets a bit more than permies but the rest is sucked into PFI parasites.

Holy carp - If they need any emergency bog cleaners or floor moppers, I'm applying!

(I'd certainly do a better job than some of the bone idle muppets they employ now.)

It's still f**ked up, you could work 5yrs then comfortably retire on that money. Esp. when it's the public purse paying it...

Health chiefs in North Yorkshire paid £58 per hour for a mental health nurse, a rate of £113,000 a year.

If they had no holidays whatsoever, typical sensational journalism
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

That's how permie's tend to work out their hourly rate. They take the annual rate and / 52 / 37.5 and think that's what they get paid for each hour they work.

Most public sector staff only work 44-46 weeks per year (assuming no sickness), so the amount they earn for each hour of actual work is about 15-20% more

Back to the original point, these are not "contractors", in the sense that they work for 3-6 months at this rate. It is literally "we need someone for this afternoon"...

Unions also hate it because it is cheaper to use agency staff to fill in the gaps than to employ another x amount of staff when they're not actually required 90% of the time.

Mental health nurses should be paid that much to start with.

Save wasting it on gob-tulipe politicians.

GF works in the NHS, they doubled hers and all her colleagues wages so no one does overtime anymore which they were always up for doing.

They now have to pay crazy money to get them to do out of hours services.

The loonies took over the asylum, then the NHS.
