    Another one bites the dust

A sad day for old punks
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

Sounds good, I must see if I've ever downloaded it.

Another one in the same vein I'd recommend is "Lost Causes in Physics" by R F Streeter, which is largely a tarted up version of the website he maintains here.

Some of it is rather demanding, which is fair enough. But I thought it was also needlessly erratic in difficulty, and this could have been "graduated" a little better by rearranging the order of topics discussed.

But its theme, if any, is the misconceptions that can arise (in everyday life and esoteric areas of quantum mechanics alike) from a poor intuition of statistics.

In particular, there's an excellent and detailed section debunking Munchausen's syndrome by Proxy, the bogus theory peddled by the notorious Dr Roy Meadow before it and he were totally discredited.

(I have an e-copy if anyone is interested )

      eh?
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”
