    Honda shutdown

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7833280.stm

Honda has announced that it plans to stop production at its plant in Swindon for the months of April and May, because of a collapse in global sales.

The carmaker, Japan's second-largest, announced in November that the plant would shut during February and March.

That's a long shutdown. They shutdown over December for Christmas and they shutdown in August for staff holidays, now they are shutting Feb, Mar, Apr and May.

How long before they go "pop"?

Well the field that's been steadily filling with 10,000 Civics is now full!

I remember working in Swindon soon after Honda started up. Trying to recruit staff was nigh on impossible.

They receive basic pay (no bonuses, extras, shift pay, overtime) only.

This has happened to every major car manufacturer in the UK, hardly surprising.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Does this mean house prices in Swindon will go down?
