    IBM Layoff

“The layoff date is January 23rd. Approx. 16,000 employees worldwide will be affected. The majority from the US. I heard this from a 2nd line mgr. Confidentiality agreements were signed in the upper ranks to keep this hush, hush, but nothing this big stays out of the light for long. Good luck everyone.”

Hmm... Nevertheless, I do hope they don't get rid of the guys working with me, that would be an unmitigated disaster for the project and a great shame as they're excellent contractors.

The reason why IBM has so many f***wits is because IBM bought up loads of service contracts and took on the existing staff. The newly required staff were not properly trained to IBM standards and has diminished IBM’s reputation.

I was told last year that my contract wouldnt be renewed - they were under instructions to cut contractor numbers to zero in my area. Just a few weeks to go now.
It will be interesting to see if anyone is affected by January 23rd, where I am based.
