    More grim news for Swindon

    http://www.thisiswiltshire.co.uk/new..._jobs_at_Tyco/

HUNDREDS of Swindon staff are facing redundancy – because of ‘globalisation gone mad’.

Tyco Electronics UK, which has its head office in Dorcan, is understood to be making 223 workers redundant.

This includes around 100 employees at its Cheney Manor factory. Work will be transferred to the Czech Republic.

Tyco designs and manufactures electronic components.

Hot on the heels of Honda shutting down for 4 months.

At this rate Swindon won't be worth living in.

... and did you hear about the hundreds of Italian workers that are living on a barge near Hull that are going to work on British oilrigs at the expense of British workers and economy.

... and did you hear that the company building the new nuclear power stations in the UK is only hiring Polish workers etc.

This has much to do with the unions and restrictive practices which Labour support IMO !!

bloody abysmal shortage of technically and scientifically educated people among Britain's workforce.

Merchant Wbankers, Marketing Consultants and Estate agents aren't the people we need to work oil rigs and build power stations.

Fair enough to blame NuLabour to some extent, but this started much earlier.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

It's not technical work as the Poles have no experience of building power stations. Much of it is building work which our indigenous builders would snap their hands off for.

Yes, last time I visited Poland they were all using candles to light things up and banging on drums to communicate.

... and I don't suppose that rising taxes on companies and employees and the minimum wage has anything to do with companies wishing to relocate. That is down to Labour !!

You could rebrand Swindon as a cheap euthanasia drive-in. Put a few landmines on the magic roundabout and charge a toll for entering. BOOMED!
