What gadget can't you live without?

This was inspired by a topic on BBC Have Your Say, which has naturally degraded into a slagging of the Labour 'government'.

I thought about it though, and could hardly name any 'gadget' I couldn't do without, or more accurately, would want if I didn't have to have it for work.

I suppose my wristwatch (if you can consider that a gadget) is the only thing I'd really miss.

All the mobiles, blackberries, plasma TVs, computers, Wiis, iPods, DVD recorders etc. could go in a skip as far as I'm concerned.

I used to be a real gadget freak when I was younger but now it's all 'meh'

What gadget can't you live without?

You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

Mrs BP said it is her rabbit. I told her a small furry animal is not a gadget but she just laughed at me. Poor girl is cracking up......

It's certainly possible to live without any gadgets, humans have done it successfully for 1,000,000 years. However I would be inconvenienced without:

A mobile - being able to call and receive calls from any location is quite useful.

A GPS navigator in the car.

I'll let you know when I find a gadget worthwhile.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
