    LinkedIn

I just deleted my LinkedIn (aka SuckedIn) profile and closed my account.

A very liberating experience, I can tell you.

A guy I work with swears by it as he tends to take lots of very short contracts which might look dodgy on his CV, so he always gets his clients to write testimonials on LinkedIn - and a very nice collection he has too. He reckons he gets steady work from contacts made through the LinkedIn network.

Doesn't suit everyone though, and I've found it pretty useless myself, but I think you have to put the work in, same as with any networking in real life really. I can never be bothered with it.

For me it wasn't proving any use at all as a business tool, just a case of Friends Reunited in a new dress.

Pointless, boring, and a bit of a gamble on the ID theft front (depending on what you put on it of course, but even a name is starting point for these guys)
