10 safest jobs in a recession (UK)

    According to Yahoo:

    1. Teaching
    2. Working in the NHS
    3. Other public service jobs
    4. Public transport projects
    5. Home insulation and other 'green' initiatives
    6. Energy
    7. IT
    8. Human resources
    9. Interim managers
    10. Accountants/finance directors/compliance officers

So 3rd if you don't include vote-buying schemes. Not bad.
    Bored.

The great thing about IT is it is immune from offshoring and it's not like the government encourage fast track visas to Indian nationals to come here, work tax free and then go back home, replaced by another bod from India for six months.

    At least that doesn't happen.

HR is only safe in the short term. Their job is to provide payroll and stuff, but mainly to manage the sacking and redundancy procedures. Once all the jobs have been shed, HR will itself be slimmed down (with a juicy pay-off if they're any good )

I thought being a Politician / MP was recession proof. Hey ho.
If your company is the best place to work in, for a mere £500 p/d, you can advertise here.

No, Brown and half of the parliamentary Labour party will be getting their P45s within 16 months.

I wonder if the appalling Shaun Woodward will swap sides again?
