Should I go Local or national?

I have recently made the decision to form a ltd co (after having used an umbrella for some time now). The question is which accountant to direct my business towards

I am aware that there are a number of accountants who are active here and many of whom get positive write ups. A neighbour of mine who is self employed uses a local firm. Do people think it is better to use a local accountant (possibly a more personal service, around the corner so can sit down with him whenever required, etc.) or a specialist contractor's accountant such as NW, SJD, etc (well versed in all the key legislations and possibly more info/experience within this specific field)

    Any views?

This has been covered before linky. Maybe not exactly answering your question. I use a local accountant who has expertise with dealing with cross border contractors (Ireland).

I know a lot of board members use the services of the accountants who advertise on this site. It all depends on your requirements.

      My personal preference is "local"
ie I like to be able to look him in the eyes...... its a human interaction thing.

      I am not a Number!

I readily accept other peoples view that "national" might have greater experience in "Contractor Stuff"

        Charges are also important.

A Local can charge anything between £300 and £3000 a year, so you need to be careful they dont rip you off.
