    any astronomers out tonight?

Going to attempt some night sky photography tonight, starting off with Venus (look up and west in the sky). Nice clear skies where I am.

Being in the sticks and on the bench I can try odd things like this for a change.
    Missus M isn't so sure.

There was an article in the times last week (friday, i think) about the comet. It's most visible around 3-4am. Also the times article gave the best constellation pin points as to where it would be.

It may have escaped your attention, but it is piggin' cold out there!

              Yeah, right. Nearly convincing.

              Going out dogging, are we?

I prefer astronomy during the day. It's warmer. Apparently, if you look in the right direction at the right time, Jupiter is visible in a telescope during the day. ( But don't look at the sun, unless you want firey eyes ).

They tell me InfraRed Space Telescopes are all the rage,
But I do Love a little poetry.

Looking up at the stars, I know quite well
That, for all they care, I can go to hell,
But on earth indifference is the least
We have to dread from man or beast.

How should we like it - were stars to burn
With a passion for us we could not return?
                  If equal affection cannot be,
Let the more loving one be me.

Admirer as I think I am
Of stars that do not give a damn,
I cannot, now I see them, say
I missed one terribly all day.

Were all stars to disappear or die,
I should learn to look at an empty sky
And feel its total dark sublime,
Though this might take me a little time.
