Many of the UK's biggest high street names, including House of Fraser, are under threat after one of their biggest investors was poised to go into administration.

Icelandic group Baugur has applied for bankruptcy protection for its creditors after talks with banks over its £1 billion debt burden collapsed.
The group, which owns stakes in Hamleys, Whistles, House of Fraser, Debenhams, French Connection and Karen Millen among others, has an initial three weeks to find a solution to its problems.

But experts have warned that the group's current woes could mean a fire-sale of its UK retail assets, including many major retailers and department stores.
