I can highly recommend getting a Hummer.

I tried several versions of Hummer in the snow. They're all really quite bad.

The best I found is the Mercedes G class.

But when it comes down to it, most people aren't capable without training, so just get some decent snow tyres, it'll improve you with plenty quickness and much cheapness.

I once rented a 4x4 Panda in Italy; brilliant in snow. No accident that they’re so popular in Alpine regions.
