    Can anyone recommend a good application that allows you to edit PDF's?

      Are you try to un-protect a protected PDF or just edit the text in a "normal" one?

        I think you can edit them in the Openoffice.org draw program

            Seem to recall there are different formats of pdf, some are encrypted, some are not.
