What I mean is, will he be forced to resign before the general election, not will someone shoot him...

Will El Gordo make it through to 2010?

I think he will. Labour would be totally mad to jump horses now. Their best chance is having Gordon as the man to get us out of this mess (and hope no-one asks who put us in the mess).
PS Good andyw option... -

If you were in charge of the Labour party, what would you do?
Keep flogging the dead horse that is Gordon, in the hope that the economy picks up, or get rid of Gordon and hope to save some seats at the next election?Comment

Never underestimate the ability of the Labour Party to shoot itself in the foot by turning in on itself and squabbling.
They have had 15 years in the ascendency and maintaining discipline in those circumstances was far easier than it will be now.
I think he will survive though.Comment

They are all in maximum Trough mode, they already know a lot of them will not even be relected next year let alone be in opposition. They are milking the cow dry now.Comment

The right wing of NuTories (such as Millbland, camel Straw and so on) have the idea that they will force Browns hand with 3 months to go on an Election. In that force him out through various underhand tactics. "You have to go for the party or we shall lose badly" excuse.
Replace him with one of them and this they hope will lessen the Tory vote. They still expect to lose, but they think this approach will mean the Tories have a slim majority.
Thus they can claim it was all the fault of Gordo and that "we" NuTories need to be more right wing as that what gets votes (as in clawing back some from the Tories). This they hope will allow them to still control and maintain NuTory and they hope one day allow them back into power when old Tories screw up too.
This is their current tactic so, expect to see no change until the last 3 months.
Can we have a non-Tory govt please?Comment

There may be hope:
Even Labour MPs short selling this bust PM"Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny. "
