    ....a potential use for chavs?
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? - Epicurus

Hook up all the gyms to the national grid and pay them to go there.

I think that could be described as a 'win win win' situation.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Maybe we could put these Chavs in individual pods and harvest their biomechanical energy. We'll keep them occupied by hooking them up to a next generation social networking application that gives them an alternative reality to live in. We could call this application <air quotes>The Matrix</air quotes> or something.

I'm full of ideas I am.

It would capture energy produced not only when humans are active, but also from smaller movements such as when people are sat at computers

Am I missing something here? The planet is two thirds covered in a big heaving mass of energy, the same planet has fair bit of air moving about and a giant nuclear reactor glaring down on it... we haven't found an efficient way to capture energy from any of that so why the feck would this be a goer? Who funds these people??

Reminds me of a Georgian house owned by the national trust in Bath. In the kitchen they have dog wheel mounted on the wall. Indeed, the dog runs turning the wheel which turns the other rotary mechanisms that eventually mix the flour.

                  True....

They went through a few dogs mind.

And here I was thinking that Laser in California or that Tocamak in Korea managed to create controlled fusion.

Anybody else watch that Horizon episode?
McCoy: "Medical men are trained in logic."
Spock: "Trained? Judging from you, I would have guessed it was trial and error."
