    Bad News..Good News..Bad News

Today was my last day and a period of Bench time could be heading my way. Then today I did a telephone interview in my hung over post leaving do state and it seemed to go OK. They have been on the phone to see when I could start if offered - agent says they liked me etc but it's in Geneva

So what is Geneva like? I suppose it is expensive to stay there? Would it be better if I stayed outside of Geneva and travelled in? What do I do about working there, the role is only for a couple of months.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

    I preferred version 1!

You don't know the meaning of expensive until you've regularly booked hotels in Geneva. One week, the cheapest hotel I could find online was 4400 EUR per day.

I stayed outside Geneva: in weeks of big conferences (like that mentioned) I would stay in France.

Oh yes, that's what 99% of people who work in Geneva do
I've seen much of the rest of the world. It is brutal and cruel and dark, Rome is the light.

Stay in Vevey, it's an hour from Geneva but is a beautiful place to stay.

If it's a three month contract or longer, can't you rent a room in someone's house or apartment?

Wouldn't they welcome the extra income?

Stay in Annemasse in France at an Accor/Etap/Formula1 type hotel at approx 30 Euros a night. That is within 20 mins of Geneva. I did it and I recommend that approach. Not far from Chamonix either if you are into skiing !!

90 minutes on the train, but apart from that WHS.

No, you're not being naive, there is a market in that, but not sure I'd bother for just 8 weeks (by the time you've sorted it out you might only get a month there...)
