National speed limit to be reduced to 50mph

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/dri...cle5864847.ece

THE government is to cut the national speed limit from 60mph to 50mph on most of Britain’s roads, enforced by a new generation of average speed cameras.

The reduction, to be imposed as early as next year, will affect two thirds of the country’s road network.

I don't think 3000 is enough. Up it to 70 mph again.

    ffs more liberty restricted.

FFS why does 'safety' always have to mean stepping backwards?

Utterly ridiculous. That is far too fast - people will still be killed in RTA incidents so I insist that they reduce the speed limit to 5mph and introduce legislation to force car manufacturers to paint all their vehicles florescent yellow, and have horns permanently activated so people can hear them coming.

Before 1896 a man with a red flag had to walk in front of cars.

Maybe the Victorians had it right, if a bit sexist

cameras are only a problem for all you Clarkson-watching halfwits. the majority of drivers who stick to the limit don't actually worry about them...

(and just to pre-empt a couple of the usual hackneyed cliches, "speed cameras cause more accidents than they prevent" is an unsubstantiated platitude spouted only by the terminally moronic, and "they're just there to make money" is demonstrably false when you balance the national cost of speed camera installations against number of fines levied.)

Good cuss, worthy of myself. I would have tried to get the word "cretinous" in there, though.
              Hard Brexit now!
