    Obama

I've had my eye on him.
My considered opinion, he could very well be the greatest president America has ever known.
    Opinions?
    Bored.

I listened to his press conference last night, it lasted over an hour and I heard every word. Most times I wouldn't even bother with anyone else.

But with every question asked, you could see he was pausing for thought and trying to give a genuine answer, unlike our own GB who can reel off the pre rehearsed BS verbatim. He also injected humour into it and he is a great speaker.

I know he's not everyone's cup of tea, but look at what they had before.
Who has time? Who has time? But then if we do not ever take time, how can we ever have time?

Me too. An American friend of mine summed it up very well: "It makes such a difference to see a president who actually thinks about what he's saying".
I thought he put down Brown quite well, re "End of the Washington consensus"
And I really liked his answer to the Chinese reporter too.
      Bored.

        Bollocks

We've seen it all before, a photogenic, charismatic youthful leader about to set the world to rights.

A good orator & bonus he's an ethnic to please all the white liberal bleeding hearts

        'A breath of fresh air'
        'A new beginning'

But no real world experience of building up a business and creating wealth just the usual socialist academic theories which will eventually lead to increased taxes on the higher earners

Policy appears to be to reflate the bubble that caused the problem in the first place & the mistaken belief that just saying something will somehow fix the problem

All very Tony Blair and New Labour & it will definitely all end in tears

          It's just a wonderful relief...

...to have someone with an IQ greater than two short planks running the world! Not since Tony Blair's first win in 1997 did I feel such elation at a political victory as at when Obama won the election. I just hope Obama doesn't dissappoint in the same way!

Don't know who you are quoting, but its not me...

I think you will find most of your "real world experience of building up a business and creating wealth just the usual socialist academic theories will eventually lead to increased taxes on the higher earners "people are probably out of a job right now( Ex bankers). As for raising taxes, don't you think this will be mostly a worldwide issue?

The policy of trying to re-inflate the bubble seems to be the way forward not just for Obama, but for the majority of the G20 leaders. The problems were caused by over zealous bankers, greed and lack of regulation.

As for your quote of "the mistaken belief that just saying something will somehow fix the problem" ....have you not just contradicted yourself with the first part of the sentence?

He's a heck of a lot better than the much hated Canadian Prime "swine" Minister. And a heck of a lot better than the "broken record" Brown.

As for the socialist policies...can anyone else think of a better way outta this. I for one think all these subsidies and bailouts ARE socialistic. Reading the G20 statement and analysis....almost ALL the money is for the rich...the poor countries get a raw deal.

I really think he's come at the right time, they guy is going to make a serious impact on global relations in a good way. He is already repairing the rifts caused by that idiot Dubya.

Honestly think if there was another year of the bush administration we would be in serious trouble by now.

Embalmer has a heck of a long way to go before he is compared with the likes of Lincoln, FDR, Washington & possibly Wilson. The fact is my pet hampter would look better than the cretin he took over from, so he perhaps looks better than he is. All he has done so far is make a few speeches.

It is refreshing to see a US president who can construct a coherent sentence though. Can you imagine what an embarrassing hash Bush would have made of the last few days??

If you study history though, the USA got to where it is largely on the ability and foresight of some amazing leaders. They are losing their positing in the world largely because that standard of leader no longer makes it to the top because of corruption and because of the ridiculous power and control held by certain lobby groups ("defence", pharmaceuticals, oil). If Embalmer does nothing about that (assuming he even can), it's game over for the US after the moves the G20 took yesterday.

He's just a politician. If you like listening to words, fine. I'm only interested in what politicians do, to make my country work better.
