    Fed up with the bench

and watching the warchest slowly deplete.

All the calls I've had have ended with "...and I just need 2 references so we can get them straight off to the client," and there's flip all on Jobserve.

Thank god I've spent the last year and a half saving like mad

Would you consider doing anything else Stu?

      Permie?
      Lesser roles?

I'd grab work in Subway rather than be on the bench for ages, personally. Even if it just gave me a bit of spare pocket money - it's better than just watching your money fritter away surely?

They moved MASH from 9 till 10 this week, really messes up my day.

Now I am going to have to watch Murder She Wrote later if I want to get Dog the Bounty hunter in.

Have you called (note called and not emailed) any previous clients (project leaders, colleagues, managers, anyone) to see if there's any work going(however crap) on any projects at the moment?

Any contractors you've worked with in the past got any leads?

Any friendly and useful agents you've used in the past?

Phone all these people! Chat and catch up and see what's going down.

The problem is in a downturn, jobs don't make it onto JobServe.

That's exactly what I would do too

Just treat it as a paid holiday!

Some useful advice there, thanks DP. I'm off to re-acquaint myself with some people.
