    Role-playing games pioneer dies

Dave Arneson, one of the co-creators of the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-play game, has died of cancer at 61 in a hospice in St Paul, Minnesota.

    Rest of the story here

Crickey, what with Gary Gygax in March last year, and now Dave Arneson this year, the parents of D&D have re-rolled and gone to another place in such a short space of time !
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Great shame, but does show the age of D&D. I remember playing a lot late seventies/early eighties with a good group of friends - it was all a lot of fun.

Although the games have got more involved and complex/real over the years, nothing quite matches a good D&D game (well, in a nostalgic way anyway!).

I blame WotC, they have done everything they can to draw a line under 4th Edition that has resulted in big upheavals in the campaign settings and now to make sure there is no going back they are purging the world of people who may have the power to do something about it!!!

You heard it here first, 4th Edition is EVIL!!!!!!

Buried, because you can't Res if you don't have a body.
