    Adding pimps on LinkedIn

    Should I or shouldn't I?

Has anyone found work this way?

I don't as it allows them to see contacts that I value (don't want to be hassled by pimps) through my connections.

I've had pimps use my links to fish for my previous clients, and also bothering of contractors I'm linked to.

So I now only link to pimps that I have been in a contract with.

I wish there was a way, to control what your connections can see.

Linkedin is favoured by pimps because it's cheaper than the job boards and in many cases more reliable.

I have agents on my profile, but my profile is carefully worded to avoid fishing, and I don't allow people to see my connections (simple option in settings).

And yes, I've found some great contacts and work through it.

There is, isn't there. At least there is a way to prevent people from connecting to you blind as it were.

Yes you can limit people from accessing your connections list.

at the top right hand corner, select accounts and settings.
then, underneath privacy settings choose 'connections browse' and then select the options you want

                No.

The LinkedIn network is for me to find work (and give it, of course). It isn't for pimps to swipe opportunities away from me.

                  Got current role via Linkedin.

Only had a phone interview, as I was doing some training and couldn't attend a face-2-face.

The client 'saw me' and my recommendations and selected me for the role.

Started 3 working days after phone interview....
