    State of the market

Only a month ago, I was reading posts saying how the contract market couldnt be better. Now there's a thread with people desperate to go perm. So which is it?

I think we need another poll.

Really, who said that?? It's been carp for over a year now IMO.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Although I've ticked "currently contracting", I'll be benched next month and there is tumbleweed on the horizon.

Although my contract just got extended this month until June, Im quite astonished to see most of the people are currently working somehow.

I must admit, so far this pole proved market is better than wat i was expecting. Having said that, I wish all the benched guys best of luck and hope they'll find something sooner, and all those chaps who are working will keep getting good work (unless they want some time off)

An agent told me they got 700 applications for one contract.

She said that the figure is misleading, developers who usually would just apply for development roles are now trying testing, architect and support roles as well.

Anyway, I knocked back an extension and I am not really looking until August, been told it will be slightly better then.

I'm making that an unemployment rate of 30% now. I predict 50% by later summer.

Just thought I'd revisit this and kick it back up to the top

So 2/3rds of you are working then! Guess the market is ok.

Maybe the next poll should be how many of you think you will be renewed?
