Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? - Epicurus

Lowering speed from 60mph to 50mph will result in fuel savings which would mean reduced tax benefits. Increase in fines with new cameras probably won't cover it: the golden time for cameras was when they were cheap and people were not experienced.

If someone is running along at 10 mph, and you hit them from behind at 30mph, the speed of Impact (SOI) is 20mph.

Surely if this government were serious about safety, and health, they would be spending their time encouraging more people to run along the pavements instead of walking

If pedestrians stick to pavements and cars stick to roads, then accidents would decrease shirley!?

Watch out for that secret fuel duty rise in the smallprint, so overall tax take will be the same after the speed limit reduction. Tried and tested ZanuLabour tactic.

They should just let drivers get on with it and make everyone retake their test for even the slightest infringement. Result - huge increase in test fees (ie stealth tax) and public sector job creation (test instructors / examiners). Boomed.
