    For one of our clients BlaBla is looking for an Test Consultant with the following profile.

    Position:
    • Creating a test oracle with MS Access (designing and programming). This test oracle holds all Account/Unit/Flow information and expected outcome of the several processes and reports needed for testing the reconsolidation process of the client.
    • Describing the test process with this test oracle.
    • Performing the first initial tests.
    • Describing the load test en perform the initial load test.
    • Train the intended tester in using and maintaining the tests


    Industry: Oil and Gas
    Location: The hague
    Startdate: Asap
    Duration: Undefined
    Working hours: 40 per week
    Rate: market conform

    Knowledge and required experience
    _ MS Access
    - To set up this system a solid knowledge of testing and MS-Access (programming, databases development, etc) is needed.

    At least 5 years experience in:
    - Resource Management
    - Client Server Expert
    - Planning and Organising
    - Business Modeling
    - Business Process Reengineering
    - SAP Applications
    - Oral Communication
    - Customer Service
    - Consultant

    Right, so you need a tester who doesn’t have to know anything about testing, in fact it’s probably better if he doesn’t, since you’ve decided you’re going to use access for your ‘Test oracle’ when a proper testing expert might be able to think of something more suitable and you want him to have 5 years experience in talking tulipe.

    With hiring policies like this, is it any wonder so many IT projects fail?

    Is a 'test oracle' any relation to a 'test guru' or 'test sage'?

      No. It's basically a means of comparing output to expected output. I suspect the recruiter doesn't know this.

              No, but I've seen Oracle DBs used as test oracles. Trouble is, any part of a test that's automated is unlikely to be any more, and is probably less reliable than the app you're testing, seeing as;
              1 it has to be programmed
              2 testers are usually crap programmers
