    Working a room

One thing that I find really irritating is people who admire an individuals ability to "work a room" at a party. What is that all about? how can you possibly admire someone who callously "works a f***ing room" in order to achieve what precisely? OK I can understand it if it is a business function. But a social gathering?

To me someone who "works a room" in order to meet presumably important people is a sad loser. Conversly I do not want to talk to someone who is simply trying to see if I am important (which of course I am )

For me "working a room" at a party is all about eying up and moving in on the best totty and spending the evening dribbling all over it
Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyone

You'll always find me in the kitchen at parties.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Dodgy, are you sure you're an agent?

(and yes, that was the compliment of the week)

              Corrected:
I work the room at social functions, I hold trays of canapes.
