    New phone

Since the end of 2004, I've been using an Sony-Ericsson P910i. It's very robust, but the keypad's beginning to go, and the touch screen (while still working perfectly), is scratched.

So - I want a replacement. One that runs Symbian, so I can transfer my applications, but also, if such a thing exists anymore, one that's robust.

    Any suggestions?

This was the last robust mobile ever made.

I've seen much of the rest of the world. It is brutal and cruel and dark, Rome is the light.

Nah, this is the one you want for ruggedness.

Sonim announced its range of toughened handsets back in 2007, and made much of the phones' indestructibility. The specifications list an operational temperature range of -20 to +60° C and the ability to survive a drop of two metres. Our handset got sloshed around in a pot of boiling coffee for half an hour and chucked off the roof of a house, not to mention being stamped on by everyone who saw it - and survived it all with nothing more than a scratch on the screen.

        Very nice.

But I need a phone that functions as a PDA as well. And uses symbian.

I know, I was just using it as a chance to dig that one out. It is an excellent phone if that's your bag. For you, why not just get the new p1i from SE?
