Pensions, Income Protection, Health Insurance - I need an IFA

    Comrades,

Do you have a view on the each of the following:

Pensions - What type? Popular products? Flexibility

Health Insurance – How much should I be paying?

Income Protection – Is it worth it?

I am looking for views and any IFA recommendations to discuss the above with. I am keen to get the above sorted as they have been neglected for the last few months.

The above site looked useful, but would appreciate further recommendations

    Thanks in advance.

There are so many products out there and so many different approaches that you might prefer to take, no-one can reasonably comment without a long sit down chat and knowledge of the products i.e. a good IFA

That depends on what you want, your medical history and lifestyle, again specialist advice needed.

Total waste of money as the insurance companies have so many ways to wriggle out of coughing up. If you're a contractor then the chances of ever getting paid out drop from negligable to effectively none.

Contractormoney have contractor specific knowledge, so they're probably worth at least talking to.

      Cheers Tyke

I know the question was a bit open ended and non specific. I will contact Contractor Money for starters.

Also just wanted to get a feel of the sort of benefits people are running through the Ltd Co

      Cheers all

To answer your question about pensions... if you are looking for flexibility... look at a SIPP. You manage your own funds and is fairly cheap to manage. I'm with Hargreaves Lansdown. Fairly happy with them. Pension is starting to gain some value, thanks to some prudent investment choices. I wouldn't have got that through a Stakeholder or any other pension scheme.

To answer your question about Health Insurance... as already stated by another poster... it depends on your lifestyle... however I wouldn't put it through the company as it may fall fould of BIK. Better off doing it privately. (I could well be wrong on this).

Regarding payment protection... don't have any experience with that... sorry.
If your company is the best place to work in, for a mere £500 p/d, you can advertise here.

I have a managed flexible pension because I don't want to manage such an important investment in my spare time - I would rather pay for a management team with experience in the investment markets.

My IFA set this up for me, provided illustrations for my various ideas and has been polite throughout. I also invested in his choice of shares-ISA last October, and his advice looks good because the valuation has not dipped despite the recession.
